Maya-style Soft Selection in Lightwave

A lot of Lightwave users never see the full power of Lightwave, because it is a very subtle application. A lot of power is hidden away.

One BIG hiding place, full of all sorts of goodies, is the Numeric Panel. Almost every LW Modeler tool can have its behaviour changed by through the use of the Numeric Panel. Read this thread on SpinQuad to see how a user found that Lightwave has the Soft Selection he'd been craving but thought wasn't there:
