one more thing... I thought I'd mention that if you do/can simplify your educational diagrams/animations/demonstrations then you should consider doing it all in 2D in say After Effects - it would be much easier to do if you don't have the 3D experience and with some clever editing, compositing and masking it could still get the point across and look good.
