If you did upgrade, FCP will leave LiveType alone. If they did a fresh install, you will have to reinstall LiveType from an older version. Having FCP 7 does not preclude you from using LiveType - you just have to install that one program (and its attendant media) from a version older than FCS3 (i.e. a version that has Final Cut Pro 6 or less) and LiveType will work fine with FCP 7
