Live Type exports in AVID DS
by Chris Holmes on Jul 7, 2009 at 3:11:18 am

I've got a show that is being finished on an AVID DS.

I originally provided the lower thirds as Animation Quicktimes with Alpha channel, and was told that they imported "soft" into the DS.

So I was asked to provide image sequences for the name keys. I set up compressor to output each LiveType file as Targa sequences @ 32bit.

Now the keys look good, but now they say that the alpha channel is knocking down the video by 20 IRE.

I've brought what I sent them into After Effects to look at them, and they look good. I've used them in FCP and they look good.

I think they're doing something wrong on import.

I've just sent them some more options, like exporting a name key straight from FCP as an image sequence, and another quicktime file.

I tried rendering one out as a Meridien Uncompressed Quicktime with Alpha, but the file size is a tad large. 254MB, compared to an image sequence coming in under 10MB, and a quicktime even smaller.

I haven't sent them the AVID codec to try.

Currently waiting to hear back on the latest batch of test files.

Any ideas?

They're even saying that the lower third BG banner does the same thing. I had nothing to do with this file, it came from a Motion GFX designer, and again it looks fine in FCP and AE.
