Corruption within Livetype

I have a similar but obviously different problem than Mitch (see thread below). I have corrupted display within LT. Regular & LT fonts display correctly, but background, objects and effects do not. Livetype will hang if I try to render. I've re-installed and updated.

OS 10.5.2 - QT 7.5 - All current updates

Primary System Info
Mac Pro 2x3.2 Quadcore - 6MBram - nvidia8800GT - SATA internal & external storage - Blackmagic Multibridge Pro
