Shared section in the side bar not displaying

I have a 2.5 Intel Mac that is runing 10.5.4. For some strange reason SHARED items are no-longer showing up in the sidebar. I have restarted but it continues not to be there.
The network connection is still active and you are able to do a command-k to connect to other drives that method. My users are used to the sidebar method.
Any suggestions?
