Bob, thanks for the input. Here's where I stand. I did download the latest CF, but before I tried to install it, I attempted to open the older version to read the serial. Since I had dumped QT, CF wouldn't open. Thus, I downloaded and installed an older QT (7.6.2). I also created a comp in AE CS3 to apply CF to so I could open it. This time, on trying to open CF (the original) it told me "Sorry, CF doesn't recognize this format!!" The format was an HDV mpeg2 which, as you know,is not a sequence of complete frames. As I was about to go look for an avi, CF did in fact open in full interface. I'm guessing it had to wait for AE CS3 to decompress the video first. Does this sound right? Anyway - it's working!! I'm assuming I should still go ahead and install the latest CF LE any way. I presume it will take care of the older version? Thanks, I appreciate your quick response over the weekend. Dale
