Hmmm. Since the serial number worked with the Color Finesse that shipped with After Effects, the only thing I can think of is that you downloaded the wrong Color Finesse installer from our web site. Think that's possible?
You want the one titled "Download Color Finesse Updater for Adobe After Effects 6.5." The link under the title says: "Download 1.5.3 Macintosh OS X Installer for Adobe After Effects 6.5." This installer updates the version of Color Finesse bundled with After Effects.
Sometimes folks mistakenly download the "Mac OS X Installer for After Effects 5.5/6.0/6.5" but that installer is not for the version of Color Finesse included with After Effects.
