Trapcode Particular not showing up in PP...

So I've only got a couple of months under my belt with AE/PP but I'm learning by doing and making progress. My latest issue is trying to create a stylized rain using Trapcode Particular, specifically using the "Rain Preset" I found online and tweaking it here and there.

My problem is, while it looks great in AE, when the comp is imported into PP the rain is either not there, or sporadic at best.

I'm using Trapcode 2.1, and CS5.5.. the "rain" layer is on a black solid, set to "screen".

It feels like I'm just missing some newbie checkbox somewhere, any thoughts would be greatly appreciated...
