Syncing sound keys with movement of a 3D object
by Scott Green on Mar 26, 2009 at 2:39:04 pm

I'm planning to create some objects in Cinema 4D, one of them which has characteristics of a beach ball with speakers embedded into it.

The object will rotate slowly (lets say 1 rotation over 10 seconds).
Then every 1 second I plan to make the object bulge as though being affected by the bass of the sound.

Once I have rendered the movie I will bring it into After Effects and use sound keys to hopefully sync the bass to the the bulging effect. But I predict I will run into problems as the effect of the bass is not every second.

Can anybody give me any tips before I start so that I can sync the bulging effect to the bass realistically please?

Would you recommend using AE's bulge effect rather than create the bulge in C4D?

If you need to hear a sample of the track please see my first sound keys experiment here:

Thank you.
