Trapcode Shine - Light Through Holes

Hi Guys,
I have just purchased Trapcode Shine for After Effects. I have been using it for the last few hours and I love some of the results but something has been stumped, how I can I shine the light "through" objects?. For instance say I have a mask (not a layer mask, but a real mask say a hockey mask for instance) on a transparent background and I want the light to shine "through" the holes, how do I go about it?. I have tried experimenting but have yet to come up with a solution.
I would be greatful if someone could help me.
Thank you,
Antoni.
