Amit ZinmanBeginner rotating camera problem

Hi,
I am just going through some beginner tutorials. Now for some reason when I press the Alt key + Left Mouse key, instead of rotation around the axis I get this sort of a weird minus sign.
I am using Maya 2008.
Am I doing something wrong?
