I haven't seen any kind of Maya equivalent to Jenna/C4D's mograph but you can instance geometry to particles then apply forces to that. Alias/Autodesk doesn't seem to give much love to the motion graphics market like C4D does, I thought that was going to change when they introduced the Toon module but as you can see... it hasn't.
