Newbie Hardware configuration problem

Hi All,
I'm new the the forum, although not to the Cow.
We have a peculiar problem with our Xpri (SD, version 7.02), that we haven't been able to find a solution for. It's probably something incredibly simple that we have missed, and you get to show me how dumb I am! :-)
When I scrub audio in either the timeline or source viewer, or in applying an audio effect, I get the sound through the computer speaker, not through the Xpri monitor output.
In looking at the installation manual, (ie. page 20 and page 76) it would seem that you loop the line out of the system sound card to the aux 2 input on the Xpri. This should, it seems to me, let us hear the computer sound output through the Xpri monitor.
So, what obvious think have I missed?
Thanks for any help,
Jim Dearden
