just a hiss no electrical bite and yes it carries over to the recorded footage, starting from the top left I have the input select at "rear", rec level at "m", input select at "rear", rec level "m", Rec CH select at "ch1-ch2", Mic att "off". all the channel dials 1-4 are set at about 3/4 of the way to the right
