Trying to attach Canon HV30 digital video camera to my brand new Mac Mini

What is the best way to attach my HV30 Canon video to my Mac Mini? Would it work to buy a cable that goes from Firewire 4-pin out of the camera to a Firewire FW 800 on the Mac Mini? Or should I try to find an adapter or a converter to go from the Firewire 4-pin into the Mac Mini's Thunderbolt input? Optionally, I also have an HDMI out of the video camera.

Help. I'm sinking...
