Canon HV30 not recognized in HDV mode on XP
by Larry S. Evans II on Jul 5, 2009 at 12:02:43 am

I have an HV30 and Adobe Master Collection CS4. They used to play well with each other, and so tonight when I sat down to capture video I expected to turn on the camera, hear the familiar ding sound and start capturing.

No soap. Camera isn't there. Premiere only shows a DV capture option. Also no camera in Moviemaker, WinDV, or Windows Media 9 Capture.

I plug my old JVC (SD-miniDV) in and viola it goes live. I plug the HV30 into my laptop (which only has Premiere Pro 1.5 on it and will not capture HD footage from this camera) and the HV30 is recognized.

Not able to test if an SD tape in the HV30 will show up, but frankly I'm stumped.

I have successfully captured HDV to this machine from this camera before with no problems, and have not made any significant changes.

Going back to a system restore or backup is not a valid option in this case, but if someone could point me in the proper direction to look I might be able to work out a fix. All suggestions are appreciated.
