I love the HG10s (great zoom control) or HG20. Writes to Hard drive in AVCHD. With Sony Vegas 8c you can directly put AVCHD on the time line and edit it real time. When done you can render it to any format V8 has (MPG2 for DVD).
If you want tape back up HV30 is good. Sony V8c also edits HDV directly.
