I have a similar problem with the preview window being disabled while I capture from my Optura. I just close FCP, shut down the machine, unplug the power cable and wait about ten seconds. Then I reconnect everything, start back up and try again. It always works fine then. It might be something between FCP and Canon cameras...Can't explain it, but it works for me...
