cut out hair from little contrasting background

After reading the posts about cutting out objects, hair and tree branches, I still haven't got a clear answer to my question.
I'm cutting out a girl with kinda long hair. I'm doing this by dodging and burning several channels of the image and inverting and combining the results to get a good selection. So far, so good. But the hair is a problem. Because the background isn't really contrasting, I can't mask the hair properly and I don't really like to brush on pixel level.
Is there an easy solution for my problem? By the way, this is the picture I'm working on.
