I recently got a call from a guy in Ocala, FL. who had a "custom build" PC running AVID Media Composer 6, and it was crashing like crazy. Because their are so many variables in different PC's, and because AVID gives you SPECIFIC SPECS on what computer to use, my only question to the guy was "why didn't you use an AVID certified computer". To which, of course, his super computer was far superior to the "qualified" computer. But his computer guy knew nothing about AVID systems, and could not support him.

So you see, that anyone that was willing to SUPPORT the wacky application (whatever software program the client is running) will be the hero. And the really smart computer guy that knows nothing about AVID, Adobe, Autodesk, etc. will be the loser, while the barely knowlegeable guy (like me) that doesnt' know computers that well, but knows how to FOLLOW A MANUFACTURERS SPECS will make a working system every time. And even if I screw up, I can always call that software company and say "hey, I just built this system with the EXACT COMPUTER that you specify and the exact graphics card that you specify, and nothing is working" - and they will answer me, instead of saying "we don't know, you are not using a certified computer".
