hmm - ya. with a recent data recovery, i'd personally lean towards just reinstalling to get back whatever might of gone missing...

i'm not sure if you can export presets in encoder, but if you have a bunch it would probably be worth finding that out before reinstalling, but of the 2 it definitely seems like the easier route to test to see if it resolves the issue (which i would bet it would)...

you might also be able to just install codecs via the adobe installer for encoder - i really don't remember if that's an option, though...

maybe somebody else knows of a quicker solution, but that's what i'd do...
