Doubt if there is a buried option for Windows Media Player to fulfill what you want. It's a media player, not a presentation software. You could try vlc.org for their player which allows you to drag the player window over to the extended monitor/projector, hit f key or double-click in image window for fullscreen, but the play controls will be either on top or bottom of the image window, then fades out after a sec when the mouse is moved away from it. The play controls bar can be dragged back to the laptop's side, but will again fade out when the mouse is not on top of it. The controls return to visibility if the mouse appears momentarily on the image side, albeit at its last/previous position.

With vlc, set up and save a playlist before your presentation. Prep the positions, with the playlist on the laptop's screen. Use spacebar to play/pause, and click on the playlist to play whichever video you want.

If vlc is not satisfactory for you, next suggestion is vj software like Archaos or Resolume (both pay-ware), and freeware vj software, but you'll have to research and try yourself. I'm not that familiar with them - too many!!
