You could keep the slower drive for audio and cache purposes. I would just exchange it. If you do end up keeping it, and adding 2 more drives, that will be 4 drives total. You were concerned about heat with 3...

If you do more than one stream of HD, you will eventually want an external video drive solution from CalDigit, Dulce, Promax, G-RAID, or any of the others you see on the side. And it also depends on what 'flavor' of HD - I doubt your running 1920x1080 uncompressed 10-bit HD off of one drive.

I still think that's crazy you have a 300GB drive filled with programs and no conflicts... You might want to run CCleaner and clean out some temp files. :)

I have one editing system here with Adobe Master Suite, Newtek VideoToaster, Lightwave - with all the components they have, and who knows how many 3rd party programs, and it only fills an 80GB HDD about halfway with one audio conflict I have to work around...
