Computer configuration
by Charles Hennegrave on Oct 22, 2009 at 1:55:42 pm

Hello everybody and thank you for taking time to read this post and hopefully answer it too.

Right, I need to format, re-configure and re-install my PC and I was hopping to get a bit of help on the configuration. Here is what I have available :

Drive C : 2 x 500 GB (RAID 0)
Drive D : 500 GB
Drive E : 1000 GB

PROCESSOR : Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q9300 @ 2.50 GHz
RAM : 6 GB DDR3
MOTHER BOARD : ASUS P5Q3 Deluxe
Graphic card : NVIDIA QUADRO FX 5800

Operating System : Vista x64

Software : Adobe Creative Suite CS4

Here are the questions :

What would be the best way to configure my PC in order to obtain the best performances with Adobe After Effects, Premiere, Photoshop, Illustrator, Soundbooth... knowing that I only use this computer for video editing. In other words, do I need to keep both my primary HD setup as RAID 0, should I use the "super speed" configuration supported by the mother board to increase transfer rate? Should I set my hard drives in different RAID setups, etc...?

I am aware those are rather technical questions but I would really appreciate your inputs.

Best reagards,

Charles
