I edit in a old PC with Win2K + Premiere 6.5 + Targa3000
I had a RAID 0 with 8x SCSI HD, but last saturday 3 of the discs have died, so right now my RAID 0 has ONLY 5 disks and a total of 170GB.
So short for workin properly with YUV files.

I have a J-30 SDI Betacam and a PVM-20L4 CRT Monitor.

At this moment I shoot with a Sony Z1 always in HDV.

I'm importing all to an external drive on a laptop, via Premiere CS3, as DV (downconverted on camera) and edit in DV.

For more important efects, I recapture the clips in HDV (mpeg), export as frames, and work in Combustion.

When I use Betacam tapes I capture with the Targa3000 in YUV uncompressed.

I have to start editing in HD, so I need to capture and edit in HD(v).

At the moment, CineForm is a valid option. What do you think?

My new PC will have to play in PremierePro 2 or 3 layers of HD(v) in real time (with or without CineForm).
I will need external storage with an RAID 5, I think.

Actualy I have the Heat problem and the NOISE. A LOT of noise.

I'm a PC guy. Never liked Mac's, but FCP in a G5 is an option.
To be quite honest, I prefer pinnaple to apples... ...

But, first of all i need a STABLE system.
My actual TARGA 3000 and Premiere 6.5 is solid rock.

I want the same in my next HD machine.

Any sugestions/advices?

I'll apreciate.

Carlos
