Re: MacDrive 7 Problems on XP
by Steve Preston on Dec 17, 2008 at 12:28:36 pm

I use MediaFour MacDrive 7 with a laptop that suffers the blue screen and also file structure crashes. I'm still investigating it and have sent a ticket to MediaFour for help. There may be conflict arising from PC security software - I have SpyBot, AVG and ZoneAlarm running. There was a crash once when SpyBot attempted to look at the extended (journalled) file. However - I turned all these off, but still had crashes and blue screens - which seem more likely when you are copying data to the drive and attempt to open a document or play a media file at the same time. But it can happen when simply copying data too. I have had 4 crashes in a period of about 4-5 hours (my drives (2TB MyBooks) are new and these are my first real tests of the MacDrive software). On 3 occasions the drive structure was saved in Disk Utility on the Mac, but on the other occasion, the file structure was damaged beyond repair. So at the moment, MacDrive does not seem to be the perfect solution. If anyone has experience of this or ideas, then I will check for further discussion.
