Hi John,
Re dual boot, think (last time I tried) the OS needs to be in the first few gigs of hard-disk. This means if the first partition with the first OS occupies, say, 40gigs, then the second OS will not install successfully. One way to get round this is to have a second physical hard-disk where you can direct the second OS to install itself on. Windows is intelligent enough to detect the presence of the first OS, and auto change your boot.ini file to reflect the fact that you have two OSes installed, and subsequently prompt you to select which OS you want to boot up with each time. The danger is that, if in future, you want to delete one OS, you can only delete the second OS as there are internal references in the boot up process that reference the first OS and if this first OS is missing/corrupt you will have boot up problems. If the second OS is on a second physical drive, deleting it is easy - just unplug it.
As for the gung-ho method suggested by Mike, you may also want to look at 'HijackThis' from http;//www.merijn.org
best of luck,
Thomas
