Help me save this PC from "XP Antivirus 2008" !!

Hi, everyone.

So, "XP Antivirus 2008" just showed up on my PC, and changed my screen saver to a warning that my computer has been corrupted. It also sends the requisite constant pop-ups to prompt me to buy their anti-virus package.

Well, I know it's a scam and that XP Antivirus 2008 is itself a virus. But here's my dilemma: how to uninstall it. I googled this, and was directed to enigmasoftware.com to download their free uninstall. Question is: is THIS a scam too?

Any advice on how to truly, safely get rid of this would be greatly appreciated.
