Using DOS to copy, past and overwrite one HDD partition to another??? I'M BEGGING GUYS...

I was told that it was possible to copy an entire partition in DOS and overwrite another on the same HDD. I have a fully functional Windows XP Pro install backed up from the Windows Vista install, but I need to figure out what DOS commands to use.
I'm begging for a solution that will not require a full day of reinstalling software and drivers to get free of Vista.
