DVD: HD to SD in Final Cut - change sequence settings first?

I have edited a feature-length animated film. The sequences settings are 720p, 29.97fps, animation codec. To encode the highest quality SD DVD should I export to compressor directly from the HD timeline, or copy the film into a SD timeline and export from that? Has anyone done this & is there any noticeable difference in final output?
Thanks!
