good dvd's

hi i'm using dvd studio pro, the dvd's that i'm using are TDK...how come on some dvd players these dvd's don't work. the player wont reconize the disk or if it works at times the movie will play choppy? i need a good quaity dvd that i can print a label onto that is relaiable, any suggestions??
