Just looked into this group and wow; very very interesting stuff. I've searched this forum and can't quite find the answer I'm looking for. I've been shooting for 25+ years and currently have a full SDX900 DVCPRO50 kit. HD lens, Sachtler, etc, etc. I have a good set of small lights but need to expand my soft lighting for larger interviews and small indoor B-roll shoots. I also shoot commercials so when I can't get a gaffer, I need more self-owned lights.

My current setup consists of a three-head DLH4 150w Dedolight kit with gobo projector, magic arm, etc etc and a 150w Dedo Softlight with small Photoflex, all on dimmers. I also have a Kino-Flo Diva 400 and a similar Chinese-made copy.

I feel I need something like an Arri 2K with Chimera/crate for my interview and stand-up shoots. There are several types of Arri 2K's from the open face to the Fresnel studio versions. Price isn't really a factor. I don't want to spend a squillion but do want value for money.

Or would I be better with a couple of Arri 300's or LT Pepper 300's and softboxes. (I'm not familiar with the Peppers but people write nice things about them). I also considered the Westcott Spiderlites, but these don't seem to get a good rap.

So, there you have it. Any help would be appreciated. There's just too much choice out there.

Cheers,
Peter
