Ah sorry, Forgot to say

I'm importing at the same resolution that I export (DV 25 420) and I've selected 601 SD or 709 HD (16-235) from the options box.

thanks, I'd be interested to know if you are able to export colour bars and bring them back seamlessly from after effects. I really can't see why it is not working/
