Conform from FCP EDL, workflow
by Nancy Kiang on Nov 4, 2009 at 4:04:15 pm

Hello, I am posting this to both the FCP and Avid forums, because I think this question is relevant to after editing is done, and the final conform is done at the post-production house, so it should not matter if the editing was done in FCP or Avid, since one provides just the EDL to the post place.

I edited a short film on FCP, original film footage that was transferred to digital for off-lining. The original film footage was also saved on tape to BetaSP and DVCAM. The external hard drive that contained all my log-and-capture clips and the FCP project was recently stolen, and I did not have a backup. However, I do have a backup copy of the EDL. I'd like to know if I can take the EDL and original raw footage (either film or the tape copies) to a post-production house to do the conform. This is what I originally remember doing, except I can't remember how they also loaded the music. I don't want to have to go through the process of logging and capturing again if I can help it.
This work was done back in 2005, so the post house probably has not saved the conform data. It looks like I saved both A mode and C mode versions of the EDL.

Is there any way to re-create my logged and captured clips from the EDL? Thanks for any help.
