Storing P2 Clips

We recently added a new Raid Drive in our Avid Media Composer in order to store field clips from our P2 camera. To save space, I would like to be able to edit the clips before saving them, but I'm having trouble saving even the unedited clips. Once they are deleted from the project, they also go offline on the Raid. I've tried consolidating to the new drive without success. Any suggestions will be appreciated.
