Deleting Locked Files

How can I delete locked clips? I try to unlock them in the bin but I just can't. There's a message that comes up and says filename cannot be unlocked! I can't delete them using the MDV avid either. It's eating to much space on my harddrive and I can't find a way to unlock them. Help, please?
