Apple PRO Res 422
by Matthew Romanis on Jun 13, 2009 at 12:48:57 am

Hello,
Firstly I have to admit that I know nothing about Avid or the way it handles files via the various hardware components available.
I'm looking into the possibility of using 7 x AJA Ki pro's with 7 cameras (Digital Betacam at first, but may change to HD in second series). I won't bore you with details of why it has to be this way, but it does.
So the AJA Ki pro's capture Pro Res 422 via SDI to ejectable HDD.
What is the easiest way for an Avid system to use the Pro res files, is it transcoding, re wrapping, or some other way.
The other option is to use SDI SD Telestream pipes and capture an offline DV pal QT codec and use the tapes rolled in camera as online source and archive (everything is time code locked).
I have been told that an Avid system can rewrap the QT DV files fairly quickly.
Can any one offer some advice or information?
Thank you.
