2K workflow

Hi there,

I'm in the middle of an indi 3D animation feature production,
And I'm new to AVID Media Composer.
An abrupt technology migration decision,
Has made me switch what I thought would be a Premiere Pro and AJA XENA 2k workflow,
To an AVID Media composer software only workflow.

I’ve read the AVID white paper concerning editing for film in AMC and then conforming 2K on an AVID DS system,
And I got some questions:
(I know some of the stuff is written, but I prefer to get advice from someone who actually did it then just the whitepaper...)

Can AVID DS conform a 2K project using 2K 16bit Tiff sequences?
Or does it have to be DPX sequences?
(The reason for Asking is that tiff's are more convenient with the productions 3ds Max workflow...)

This is the workflow I'm considering:

Animation pipeline (3ds Max and Combustion) produces 2048x1080 16bit Tiff sequences...

Use AVID Metafuze to convert these Tiff sequences into 1920x1080 DNxHD,
(Black stripe at the bottom of the frame will be use for shot info)
And create ALE file.

Create 1080p/24 project in AMC
(Is the "Film" checkbox only for working with film scans?
Or does it have anything to do with a project that eventually is output to film?)

Import the ALE file referencing the DNxHD footage,

Edit the movie,

Export to DS (AFE?)

Take Original 2K Tiff sequences and AFE file to an AVID DS system, Conform 2K 16bit to a digital master.

Does this make any sense?

What are the possible problems I should be preparing for?
