Capturing - Panasonic DIVX100 24PA DV and Canon HX-A1 24F / AVID Xpress Pro
by Michel Moon on Aug 4, 2008 at 5:25:45 am

I've just shot a film, dual camera and I'm just realizing now there may be problems with the formats.

I have a few questions, but first here is what I know, any corrections or advice on any or all of these questions would be greatly apreciated.

Camera A Canon HX-A1 @ 24F in 1080i DV
Camera B Panasonic DVX100B @ 24PA in 480i DV

1) Because Canon does not make decks, I need to capture directly from the Camera. Is there any way around this?

2) AVID Xpress Pro currently does not support 24F, so I have to capture using a different program? If so which one? AND What format is best for importing? (Also which program is best for converting into that format?)

If I can capture directly, what are my capture settings? How much space should I expect to take up for about 45mins of footage on each camera?

3) I understand that capturing 24PA also needs advance capture mode, do I need to set the first frame to B? What else is required?

4) Finally when all is said and done am I going to have problems working with both in the same project? Frame rate isssues? Resolution? Colour correction?

What should I expect to encounter?

Please and Thank You!
