You're changing the speed of the video and you want to know why you lose sync?

I'm going to answer this as straight-faced as I can, you need to change the speed of the audio to match. This can be achieved with limited success in Avid by using the digi audiosuite plugins. There is a time remapping plugin that can be used but if I remember correctly, you have to do some playing around or advanced math to figure out the appropriate offset.
