plugin compressor in Avid..?

hello, I'm making some tv-programs with some guys talking in studio. I want to use a compressor for the audio, so that I don't have to fix manually every time they talk too loud or too low.

I read on a forum that the Avid Compressor is not very good, and that the best would be to buy a plugin. Is there anyone who knows what I eventually should buy, and how much this costs..?

Any other suggestions..?
