Need expert advice about the best workflow for Canon 24f HDV and Media Composer

I know that with the Canon XH-A1, 24f HDV is not currently supported with the media composer. Problem is, I have already shot my 5 interviews to tape that way. What would you expert avid guys recommend me doing? I still want to online on the media composer and not deal with an offline workflow. Should I convert to widescreen DV and take the big resolution hit? or should I transcode to DVC Pro codec or some other codec that Avid can use. The file sizes of Avid DNxHD codecs are way too big for me to use... I have already tried :-(
I am on the Mac side of things, so I have Final Cut pro and compressor as well if that helps. :-)
Thanks in advance.
Taj
