MC Soft DV output to DVD

OK here is my queery..
I have been trying to output my cut to DVD via firewire and the DVD player has been unable to see the DV signal.
I am running MC soft 2.8.0 off of a Power PC G5 with extra Firewire card and OSX 10.4.9.
I have tried sending the signal thru a secondary device such as canupos in order to change the signal to Analogue for the DVD player but all I get is Colour bars or grey screen and if I go via the I.link it tells me there is no signal.
Incidentally on my MC soft there is no Video output or input tool although I have been able to digitise thru firewire (this may be a hint at the problem).
It seems there is something interrupting the DV signal coming out of the Avid.
If anyone has tried to record to DVD via firewire from the avid and knows this solution please get in touch.
Cheers
