Re: What was the best Mac Avid editing system for Nubus machines?

The Avid ABVB board looks like a modified Targa 2000 board so I didn't expect it to work with premiere (why would Avid bother writing drivers for competing apps). The older Avid card that shipped with the Media Suite Pro setup (MSP) was just a stock Nuvista+ Nubus card and there should be drivers for that (might need a bios flash).

Currently I am sitting on a ABVB card with pyhton 2 but no dongle, I do have a dongle for the MSP 3.0 (with enhanced image) setup but I have no idea if the software for that (which I do not have)would support a newer boardset like the ABVB. Avid seems to have a few systems with somewhat the same hardware but different software (and possible dongles) in their lineup (atleast that is what I can make out of googling). Media 100 did the same thing with their Nubus card, the dongle unlocked features present in the software but used the same hardware. I would think Avid had a seperate diagnostic software application that would check its cards to see if they are OK (media 100 did this). Finding that software would atleast let me know if the cards I have even function, before I waste more time tracking down software I cannot use. At the very least I could use the MSP 3.0 software since the Nuvista+ boards pop up on ebay once in a while to get a working system (since I have the dongle).

This is just a hobby for me, I collect 68K Macs and 68K Nubus cards plus some older x86 ISA video capture cards and a Radius Videovision telecast PCI setup. I just like how video capture had advanced from the early Supermac Spigot (just an RCA video input) to the later generation Avid, Media 100, Targa, Bravada, etc hardware. Finding drivers, manuals, and software for anything pre PCI era is very hard to do (I enjoy the challenge) and seems to be harder as time goes by.
