not enough memory ae error...i have 4 gigs/ram darnit

every time, no mater what version of ae i use, i cant use the open gl renderer,
or set the anti alising up in the set up window....ive had this problem now for two years
and im about to throw invig in the garbage...if i use the default render, i get jagged curves
hosting marching ants plus strobing straight edges..adobe support cant help, perhaps you guys could?? system:
