If you want to use the latest Media 100 version (Suite 1.5), you are good to go with the latest of everything (Kona driver 7.5, latest QuickTime on 10.5.8 or 10.6.2, depending on which OS you want to use). ProRes does work on PPC (at least in Media 100 - not so well in FCP), but of course it takes some CPU power for decoding. Obviously better on Intel Macs.
