I think it was also very unlikely that they would have dropped the price by 2/3 and made a very powerful system for the iMac a few years ago.

Never say never, XML out or some other path from Smoke to Resolve is one of my major requests for the Autodesk team. Not sure if something like that would be possible by the time the software releases in the fall, but I would not say it's "unlikely" to ever happen.
