Hi Marc,

The Sony HDR-FX7 might fit the bill, street price $1998. I've had one for 3-4 years now. Low light is poor, but with decent lighting it does a nice job, shoots DV or HDV 1080i. Will use same NP-F series batteries that you are used to and has similar controls. 20x zoom.
