Sony camcorder choice?

Hey Guys, ok so we currently own two sony HVR A1e 's. Now we are looking to purchase two new bits of kit. We looked at the HVR 1000e, and also the sony hvr v1e.....

Basically my experience with such technologies is limited regarding lens size etc and what each product offers. Can anyone suggest a few pointers when considering this next purchase?
